We understand there is increasing community concern regarding Bk 2 Basics located in Narre Warren, who provide much needed services to vulnerable members of our community.
Council received a planning application from Bk 2 Basics in May 2024. After an initial review by our planning officers, the application was advertised to the local community in September 2024. Our Planning team is now considering the planning permit documents and material, as well as submissions made by the public, ahead of making a decision.
The community is welcome to view the application documents on our website, which includes details on how Bk 2 Basics will operate. The planning permit application has not yet been determined by Council, which means that formal submissions relating to the planning application can still be made via the online portal. By lodging a formal submission, our Planning Officers will be able to consider all views as part of the decision-making process.
When it comes to decision-making on planning matters, Council officers can approve or refuse applications under delegation. This is consistent with the recommendations of Operation Sandon to ensure that there is integrity in the decision-making process.
Council acknowledges the important work that Bk 2 Basics provides the community, and we will continue to engage with them in a meaningful way to understand their business model and how this relates to their planning application.
