More than 60 hectares of prime Crown land in the Narromine area will be put to its best uses for the local community following the finalisation and adoption of Plans of Management by Narromine Shire Council.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said Plans of Management have been approved by the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment – Crown Lands.
"Under the Crown Lands Management Act, councils are required to prepare Plans of Management for Crown land they manage on behalf of the NSW Government. Narromine Shire Council has about 63 hectares of Crown land reserve under its care as community land," Mr Saunders said.
"I congratulate the council for finalising and adopting five Plans of Management for all of the 22 Crown reserves it manages in the local area."
Narromine Shire Council's general manager Jane Redden welcomed finalisation of the plans and thanked residents and user groups for their input and support.
"These Plans of Management will ensure Crown land that is managed by the Council can meet the sporting, recreation and cultural needs of the community while protecting sensitive areas of environmental significance," Mrs Redden said.
"They will support a wide range of community interests and activities with land that is safe, inclusive and accessible for people of all ages, interests and backgrounds."
The Crown reserves include seven parks, four sportsgrounds and a number of other reserves including the Narromine and Trangie Showground and Racecourses.
Sportsgrounds covered by the Plans of Management include Rotary Park and Dundas Park in Narromine and Burns Oval in Trangie that together cater for a range of sports including rugby league, rugby union, little athletics, cricket, soccer and swimming.
