Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska travelled to Bydgoszcz, Poland on Monday (17 February) to participate in the opening ceremony of the NATO Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC). Speaking in the ceremony, the Deputy Secretary General said that the Centre's work "will help the Alliance and Ukraine become stronger."
Ms Shekerinska emphasised that JATEC is the first civil-military organisation to be jointly run by NATO and a partner nation. For Ukraine, the Centre's work will strengthen its defence sector, enhance its deterrence and defence and help Ukraine become fully interoperable with NATO. Noting that Allies continue to provide major deliveries of aid and assistance, the Deputy Secretary General called JATEC a "part of NATO's enduring commitment to Ukraine." She praised the leadership and contributions of Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Admiral Pierre Vandier and Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna of Ukraine. She also thanked Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz for Poland's role in hosting the NATO Centre.
At JATEC, NATO and Ukraine work together to identify and apply lessons learned from Russia's war against Ukraine, contribute to NATO's deterrence and defence, and increase the ability of Allied and Ukrainian forces to operate effectively together.
