NATO Military Committee Chair Visits Poland

Warsaw, 10 February 2025 - The Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, paid a visit to Poland and met with political and military leadership. He also visited the logistical hub of the NATO Security Assistance and Training to Ukraine (NSATU).

On 09 February, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee visited the logistic hub of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU). Admiral Cavo Dragone witnessed how the facility responsible for channelling delivery of equipment into Ukraine operates under the lead of the new NATO headquarters established in Wiesbaden.

On Monday, 10 February Admiral Cavo Dragone met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces General Wiesław Kukuła. The discussions focused on Poland's commitment to NATO's deterrence and defence. "You set the example as a strong contributor to NATO operations and missions," stated CMC, noting that Polish troops are deployed in Latvia, Romania, Kosovo and Iraq even as Poland hosts a NATO Multinational Battlegroup and two headquarters of the NATO Force Structure. Admiral Cavo Dragone also praised Poland for hosting the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre, which "reflects Poland's steadfast support to Ukraine." The flag officers also discussed the NATO-EU cooperation, other partnerships and ongoing adaptation of the Alliance to the new security environment.

Afterwards, Admiral Cavo Dragone and General Kukuła laid a wreath in a ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, paying tribute to Polish soldiers who had fallen in defence of their homeland.

In the afternoon, the CMC met with the Head of the National Security Bureau, Lieutenant General (ret.) Dariusz Łukowski, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski. The conversations revolved around the preparations for the upcoming Munich Security Conference and the NATO Summit in The Hague, ongoing plans to strengthen NATO's eastern flank against external aggression, the role of the European industry and the importance of standardization across the entire Alliance.
