If you prefer your events shaken over stirred, then Wollongong City Council's newest offering will be right up your alley.
'Nature Shake' is a free event promising to shake up your nature knowledge with a host of hands-on activities at Wollongong Botanic Garden.
Held across 6 and 7 September, the event will launch the Garden's refreshed education and learning program.
Sam Crosby, Education and Outreach Specialist for the Garden, said fostering a deeper connection with nature and the environment creates a more sustainable future for Wollongong.
"We are shaking up our educational offering with fresh eyes to meet the needs and expectations of the community," said Ms Crosby.
"On the Friday we'll host around 300 students from local primary schools for a series of curriculum-linked taster activities. Then, come Saturday, everyone can come along for a free community day with hands-on activities for all ages."
"There'll be a few different nature-play activities, electrifrying pancakes, bird bingo by the pond, opportunities to engage in bush tucker, and waste and biodiversity games. Those who like to wander can enjoy a self-guided garden trail and, if the weather is nice, pitch up for a picnic.
"We'll also showcase important work that we and other agencies undertake to care for our local environment."
The Nature Shake community day is on from 12pm to 4pm on Saturday 7 September 2024.
Visit the Garden's website to map your route by road, footpath and public transport. The full activity program will be revealed two weeks prior on the website and Facebook.
