For the 17th year running, Navy Football Federation Australia's (Navy FFA) men's, women's and master's football teams participated in the annual Great Lakes Viking Challenge Football Tournament on the NSW north coast.
Featuring players from a variety of shore and fleet establishments, Navy FFA took on more than 170 civilian teams in a highly competitive tournament.
The Navy FFA teams performed admirably, with the men's and women's squads advancing to the knockout stages.
The competition highlighted the skill and teamwork of Navy members in a visible and competitive environment. It also allowed personnel to engage with the broader community and show the many benefits of Navy life.
Lieutenant John Roberts, a member of the men's team and key organiser, was grateful for the opportunity.
"It's amazing to represent the Navy on and off the field," he said.
"We not only compete at a high level but also demonstrate the values of Navy - physical fitness, camaraderie and resilience. It's a great opportunity to connect with the community."
Able Seaman Eleanora Daga, of the women's team, echoed similar sentiments.
"Being part of the team allows us to show the community how much Navy values sport and teamwork," she said.
"It's a great way to represent the Defence Force while promoting an active, healthy lifestyle."
