Almost 20 people have been arrested in a three-day blitz targeting drugs, theft, weapons and warrant offences in Port Melbourne and South Melbourne.
South Melbourne Uniform police arrested 15 men and three women aged between 23 and 59, as well as a 16-year-old girl. Arrests of note include:
• A 33-year-old man was arrested in South Melbourne over several alleged alcohol thefts and 20 warrants. He appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court where he was remanded until 11 December.
• A 57-year-old man was arrested on warrant over an alleged aggravated burglary Port Melbourne in January 2022. He was bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 13 December.
• A 54-year-old man was arrested on warrant for the alleged theft of a motor vehicle in St Kilda East on 8 February. He was granted bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 13 December.
• A 40-year-old woman was arrested on four warrants for alleged possession of methylamphetamine, trespassing and failing to appear in court. She was bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 13 December.
Police issued several move-on directions to people who were illegally squatting or standing over rightful residents.
Police also recovered a Subaru Forester in Port Melbourne that had allegedly been stolen from Kew on 11 August, as well as bicycle worth $10,000 that was stolen from South Wharf earlier this month.
