The first sod has been turned on a $10 million (including GST) refurbishment of Nerang State High School's multi-purpose hall.
Minister for Housing and Member for Gaven Meaghan Scanlon represented Education Minister Grace Grace at the ground-breaking ceremony for the project.
The refurbished hall will feature a single sports court, a performance stage/dance studio, a kiosk, staff room with kitchenette, kinesiology teaching room and lab, student and staff amenities and storage.
The project will include demolition of the existing retaining wall and structures on the west wing of the hall, and electrical and stormwater management upgrades.
The hall refurbishment project is forecast for completion in August 2024.
The Queensland Government is investing $2.1 billion in school infrastructure in 2023-24, part of Queensland's Big Build, the state's record-breaking, all-sector $89 billion infrastructure investment over the next four years.
