A landmark event takes place in Sydney today with the launch of the long awaited action plan.

Today marks a significant milestone in enhancing psychosocial safety in health workplaces with Australian healthcare leaders attending a National Doctors Health and Wellbeing Leadership Alliance (NLA) summit in Sydney.

The National Doctors Health & Wellbeing Leadership Alliance is convened by Drs4Drs, with the latter being established by the AMA to support efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of medical students and doctors.

The event will conclude with the launch of a comprehensive action plan , aimed at safeguarding the mental health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students.

The NLA is leading change through the Every Doctor Every Setting Action Plan and framework.

"Doctors and medical students face so many challenges in the workplace, including burnout, job strain, and mental health concerns, and this can impact patient care," said Professor Steve Robson, Chair of the NLA .

Dr Danielle McMullen, President of the Australian Medical Association, highlighted the importance of the health sector's commitment to the Action Plan.

"We've seen some great progress in implementing the framework - including recognition of psychosocial safety as a work health and safety (WHS) responsibility in most jurisdictions, but more needs to be done."
