New Adaminaby Parking Areas Construction Underway

Current gravel parking area and toilet block off of Snowy Mountains Highway in Adaminaby

Site preparations are underway alongside the Snowy Mountains Highway in Adaminaby this week, ahead of construction starting on new heavy and light vehicle parking areas from Monday 3 February 2025.

A 40km/h roadworks speed limit will be in place from next week for the duration of the project.

This project will see the construction of two new parking areas for trucks to the west of Denison Street, and a complete overhaul of the existing light vehicle parking area at the Baker Street Playground to the east of Denison Street to accommodate drivers with caravans.

Light vehicle parking at the Baker Street Playground and amenity block will remain open during the first stage of works, which start with the new truck and long vehicle parking areas west of Denison Street.

Once the truck parking areas have been completed, the contractor will move on to the light vehicle and caravan parking area at the Baker Street Playground. This area will be closed until work is complete.

These new improvements are thanks to a grant received through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, proudly co-funded by the NSW Government and the Australian Government. Council is grateful for the generous ongoing support of this program and our government partners.

Council acknowledges the cooperation and support of Snowy Hydro in planning for this new heavy vehicle infrastructure.

Located off the Snowy Mountains Highway near the Adaminaby CBD, the addition of dedicated and purpose-built parking facilities will improve safety for motorists and pedestrians, and will help boost visitation to local businesses.

This project joins the significant number of Council initiatives for Adaminaby commenced and completed since 2023, including significant urban road repairs, a brand new wastewater treatment plant, and the restoration of the Big Trout.

Council is committed to supporting the smaller towns and villages across our region, with ongoing substantial investment in infrastructure, maintenance, and major projects throughout the Snowy Monaro.
