New Aged Care And Disabilities Hub

Gilgandra Shire Council (Council) has taken the next step to strengthen their continuous commitment to the long-term improvement of Aged Care and Disability services for Gilgandra and its residents.

Construction works and building fit-outs have commenced on the recently purchased 'Tavern' building, located at 41 Miller Street in its transition to become the new Aged Care and Disabilities Hub.

Mayor Doug Batten says,

"The community has shared how much they value the Aged Care and Disabilities services provided by the Council, and we are proud that these services set our community apart from most others. Council is now reaffirming our long-term commitment to aged care and disabilities through purchase of a vacant building in the CBD, consolidating key services into one centralised and accessible location for the community."

JDV Projects has been engaged to undertake these transformational works. The works are expected to take four (4) months, which will consist predominantly of internal construction, fit out, an external repaint and new car parks. At the completion of the works, the community will see a revitalised space of a vacant building, providing a central location to better assist the community access a range of valued Aged Care and Disability services.

Gilgandra Lifestyles (Aged Care) and Orana Living (Disabilities) are the umbrella brands which offer these services on behalf of Council. Once open, this new Care and Disabilities Hub will house key staff to assist with any enquiries related to:

  • Cooee Lodge Retirement Village – Independent Living Units
  • Cooee Lodge Hostel – Residential Aged Care
  • Jack Towney Hostel - Indigenous Specific Residential Aged Care
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Community Transport
  • Home Care Packages
  • Supported Living for People with Disabilities
  • Special Disability Accommodation
  • Day Activities for individuals with disabilities
  • Supported Employment Services through Carlginda
