Yarraman residents can continue to enjoy the pool this summer as works wrap up for the new People with Disability change rooms for the Yarraman Memorial Pool.
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Environment and Community Services Committee Chair Cr James O'Shea said he was pleased at the efficient delivery of the project by local contractors Taddio Building Group.
"These works have been delivered with some cost savings that will allow Council to complete some additional upgrade works for the existing pool facilities for the community," said Cr O'Shea.
"Over the coming weeks, the contractors will work with the pool operators to carry out renovations to the existing change rooms, which will include replacing dated electrical and plumbing fixtures along with refreshing the paint and shower tiles."
These works will be staged to minimise disruption to pool users and the new change rooms will be completed and operational ahead of these additional works starting.
Along with the new People with Disability change rooms, a new chair lift has been installed to improve access to the pool. The works have also included a new wheelchair accessible pathway between the kiosk, change room and the pool.
"The pool continues to remain open, and residents are encouraged to continue to attend as summer heats up." Cr O'Shea said.
The $350,000 project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government's Unite and Recover program in association with TRC.
