Stage two of the McGowan Government's $9.86 million redevelopment of Dongara Health Service is now complete.
This phase has seen the existing residential aged care facility - known locally as Blake House - increase from six to 12 beds.
A dedicated palliative care suite has also been established in line with the McGowan Government's commitment to ensuring that end-of-life and palliative care is centered on the individual needs of the person, their family, or carer.
This latest milestone follows the construction of a new ambulatory care unit at Dongara Health Service, as well as upgrades to existing ambulatory care facilities, patient flow improvements, new consult rooms, a child health room, staff amenities, and parking areas.
Stage three of the redevelopment is due to commence in late 2022.
As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"We know this initiative is important to the community of Dongara and it's terrific to see it take shape and deliver benefits to aged care patients.
"The McGowan Government remains committed to ensuring that end-of-life care is centered on the individual needs of the patient, their family, or carer and the new dedicated palliative care suite at Dongara Health Service ensures this is the case.
"All of these improvements form part of a $9.86 million investment into Dongara Health Service and delivers on our commitment to ensure world-class healthcare close to home."
