After over 40 years of serving the community at the previous location of Albert Street in Mornington, Mornington Peninsula Shire is excited to be opening the doors on 10 May 2021 to our new Mornington Community House!
The new purpose built and larger Community House is located as part of the Mornington Community Hub precinct at 3/91 Wilsons Road in Mornington.
Neighbours onsite at the Mornington Community Hub precinct include Mornington Men's Shed, RPP Radio, the Shire Youth Services the Corner with Oakwood School and the Peninsula Community Theatre.
The exciting state of the art facility has been jointly funded by Mornington Peninsula Shire ($2.55M) and the State Government's Growing Suburbs Fund ($2.05M).
The new Mornington Community House will feature:
- a purpose-built art room
- a digital learning space
- multiple flexible meeting and activity rooms
- Shire office spaces and two consulting rooms
- a central community kitchen that can convert into a meeting space and extends to the outside decking
- new accessible toilet facilities
- all abilities access
- upgraded lighting and solar power connection
- refurbishment works to the existing hall, the Studio
- upgrades to the parking area.
The new facility will cater for a variety of Neighbourhood House programs providing numerous opportunities for participants and community groups to socially connect, learn and contribute to their community.
Programs include peer support groups, adult education programs, learning opportunities (i.e. creative writing, macramé making), health and wellbeing classes (i.e. meditation, art therapy) and other activities like employment networking.
