New Appointment To Board Of Housing Australia

The Albanese Government has appointed Mr Damien Tangey as a part‑time member to the Housing Australia Board (the Board) for a five‑year period.

Housing Australia is the independent national housing agency dedicated to working with all levels of government, community housing providers and the private sector to help more Australians buy their own home and access social and affordable housing.

It is responsible for administering programs such as the Home Guarantee Scheme, the National Housing Infrastructure Facility, the Housing Australia Future Fund and the recently passed Help to Buy Scheme.

Mr Tangey has over 30 years of experience in the property industry across planning, development, infrastructure and construction industries and has a deep understanding of housing delivery challenges across metro, urban, regional and rural settings. Mr Tangey held a number of advisory roles in government including the Victorian Planning Authority and on community‑based boards like community housing provider Haven Home Safe.

Mr Tangey is joined on the Board by the Chair, Ms Carol Austin, Ms Catherine Armour, Ms Matina Papathanasiou, Ms Mary Ploughman, Mr Nigel Ray PSM, Mr Kelvin Ryan and the Hon Richard Wynne.
