- Barrister Peter O'Neill has been appointed as a Commissioner to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC).
- Mr O'Neill brings decades of experience as a barrister to the role.
- The QIRC provides Queenslanders with a fair and low-cost industrial tribunal with expertise in work-related matters.
Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace has announced the appointment of a new Industrial Commissioner to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC).
Minister Grace said the Governor in Council had approved the appointment of Mr Peter Bernard O'Neill to the Commission from 19 September 2024.
Mr O'Neill has been a practicing barrister since 1994, and has appeared in State Courts at all levels, including at the Commission and the Industrial Court.
As stated by Minister for Industrial Relations, Grace Grace:
"Commissioners of the QIRC must demonstrate a strong set of skills, professional experience and expertise in industrial relations, and Peter exemplifies these qualities.
"His extensive involvement in the justice system and high standing in the community position him well for this role with the QIRC.
"I congratulate Peter on his appointment wish him the best in his new role."
