New Appointments For CASA Board

Existing board member Elizabeth Hallett has been appointed to Deputy Chair of the CASA Board, while Adrian Verkerk joins as a new board member.

Elizabeth Hallett was first appointed to the CASA Board in July 2020 and brings a wealth of knowledge from the financial and infrastructure sectors.

The Hon Catherine King MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, said Elizabeth is an experienced non-executive Director on a number of government and commercial boards and has professional qualifications including a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

'[She is also] a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors,' Minister King said.

'She brings almost 40 years of experience in legal, corporate governance, risk management and strategy development in the financial and infrastructure sectors, including as a lawyer and partner with an international law firm.

'Ms Hallett's strong board and executive experience in various roles complements the skills and experience of CASA's existing board members and will support her in fulfilling the Deputy Chair position.'

Adrian has more than 30 years' experience in high-capacity airline operations, mostly in senior executive engineering and maintenance roles. Prior to that, he spent 10 years working in technical support and systems design functions supporting a wide range of military aircraft and engine types.

He holds a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Sydney and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Minister King said Adrian's wealth of experience will enable him to provide in-depth insight into aviation engineering and maintenance, an identified gap on the current board.

'I welcome both appointees and look forward to continuing to work with the CASA Board to ensure Australian aviation remains a world-class leader when it comes to safety,' Minister King said.

Both appointments are effective from 16 May this year to 15 May 2027.
