New swimming facilities highlight the exciting $28.4 million Salisbury Aquatic and Recreation Precinct Redevelopment, which is set to make a huge splash throughout the City of Salisbury and northern suburbs.
Expected to be completed in 2024, the construction phase of the redevelopment officially commenced on Wednesday, July 13, with Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM turning the first sod at Happy Home Reserve.
The City of Salisbury received $7.185 million from the South Australian Government's Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program in 2021 to help make the redevelopment a reality.
Key elements of the redevelopment include; a new 50-metre outdoor pool, heated 25-metre indoor lap and leisure pools, water slides, a gymnasium, water play park and café.
City of Salisbury community has played an integral role in shaping the project, with the redevelopment set to provide a facility that delivers on the vision of the local community.
The combination of indoor and outdoor pools enables year-round usage, while also encouraging visitors to enjoy the fantastic natural surroundings and walking trails.
The construction process will create more than 90 jobs, while around 27 jobs will be created following the project's completion.
City of Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM said it was exciting to see construction commence, with the community eagerly awaiting the project's completion in 2024.
