New Beds and Birth Suites Open in Major Logan Hospital Expansion

Better healthcare services, closer to home are now a reality for the Logan community, with the opening of Logan Hospital's new Birthing Suites and Transit Care Hub this week.

The new services are part of the Queensland Government's more than $1 billion investment in the hospital to provide significantly increased capacity and modern facilities for the growing Logan community.

The Transit Care Hub features 24 new beds and chairs, which will increase to 33 by early next year.

The number of Birthing Suites has increased to 12, with eight new birthing pools also installed.

The Queensland Government's record investment in Logan Hospital includes:

  • $460 million for the Stage 1 Expansion Project delivering 206 beds and treatment spaces - currently under construction
  • $530 million for the Stage 2 Expansion Project delivering 112 beds and more operating theatres - currently in design
  • $18.8 million for the refurbishment of the hospital's Maternity Service – construction continuing
  • $20 million for a new 28-bed modular medical ward set to open in the second half of 2023
  • $61.92 million for a new multi-level car park – completed in early 2022.
