A new contemporary stainless steel bin enclosure is being installed on the Metung Village Green to service Mosquito Point residents.

The enclosure will replace the existing bins but remain on the same footprint and will house six 240-litre bins. Mosquito Point residents will access the bins via pin code.

Two new stainless steel bin enclosures for public street waste will be located at the same site. East Gippsland Shire Council is moving these two existing street waste bins from the nearby traffic island for safety reasons following community feedback.

General Manager Assets and Environment Fiona Weigall said the new bin surrounds will improve the amenity of the area and will be emptied daily during peak holidays times.

"The new bin enclosures are in line with the style being rolled out across East Gippsland communities. Polished stainless steel was chosen as the bin enclosures need to withstand harsh corrosive environments in coastal areas. The new design meets best practice guidelines and will create a consistent look throughout the shire.

Mosquito Point residents were consulted about the changes, including their preferred method of accessing the enclosure.
