The Clyde and Clyde North communities will have better connections to train services, local schools, shops and healthcare thanks to three new bus services in the booming south-eastern suburbs.
New bus route 881 will run between Clyde North and Merinda Park Station, connecting the fast-growing St Germain estate in Clyde North to destinations such as The Avenue Shopping Centre and Springhill Shopping Centre before finishing at Merinda Park Station in Lyndhurst.
The bus will run to a minimum 40-minute frequency seven days a week delivering residents of the St Germain area in Clyde North public transport access for the first time, as well as a direct link along Thompsons Road.
The service is expected to commence in early 2022.
Two other new bus routes in Clyde North and Clyde are preparing to take passengers from 28 March.
Timetables are now available for routes 888 and 889, which will operate seven days a week.
Travelling from Clyde to Berwick Station via Eden Rise Village Shopping Centre, route 888 will run to a 60-minute frequency from Berwick-Cranbourne Road near Pattersons Road in Clyde, along Berwick-Cranbourne and Clyde roads towards Berwick Station.
Route 889, between Clyde North and Berwick Station via Grices Road, will run to a 40-minute frequency from Skylark Boulevard in Clyde North, continuing on Grices and Clyde Roads and finishing at Berwick Station.
New bus stops will be built at key points along the route, providing essential connections to important local services, including Berwick Station, Eden Rise Village Shopping Centre, Federation University Australia, Chisholm Institute and Casey Hospital.
The bus routes will also connect local students to Francis Xavier College and Rivercrest Christian College.
Across the wider metropolitan area and regional Victoria, 135 improved bus timetables will commence from this Sunday 28 February. This is the second round of bus timetable changes being implemented to coincide with Metro and V/Line train timetable upgrades, which has seen 450 additional train services running every week across the state.
