The extended period of free car parking at the Ophir car park at the corner of Kite tree and Lords Place has come to an end with the turning-on of new card-operated machines.
The car park has been free for all users in recent months while new equipment was installed.
Two new machines have now been installed which let drivers use a credit card to be charged the $3-a-day parking fee.
Once a driver swipes their card, the machines print a ticket to be placed inside the car's windscreen.
For the convenience of drivers, one of the former coin-operated machines is still available in the car park.
The council will review its use in the coming months.
Drivers who leave their cars in the Ophir car park are being encouraged to use the new card machines from Monday this week.
