Swan Hill Rural City Council is delighted to announce the appointment of our new Chief Executive Officer, Scott Barber.
Mayor Cr Jade Benham said Council had undertaken a national search in March this year for the critical appointment of our next Chief Executive Officer.
"Following an extensive and robust search and assessment process, a diverse shortlist of qualified candidates were interviewed for the position.
"Scott Barber was considered the stand out Executive to deliver on the Council Plan, engage with the wider community and enhance the culture within the organisation itself," Cr Benham said.
Mr Barber will be joining Council and the Swan Hill community in early June 2022.
Mr Barber is a results-driven Executive with more than two decades experience developing and leading high performing teams within Local Government, utilities and services sectors.
Cr Benham said he will bring an in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing regional communities, with experience spanning local government, irrigated agriculture, bulk water management, infrastructure operations and financial leadership.
"Scott is a proven strategic leader, who operates with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to delivering exceptional community outcomes," she said.
Mr Barber is looking forward to taking on the new position in June.

Scott has held Executive roles at Goulburn-Murray Water, Murray River Council and most recently Director of Projects & Strategy at Wagga Wagga City Council.
Scott has completed a Master of Applied Science, Bachelor of Engineering, Graduate Certificate in Management and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mr Barber will commence at Council on Tuesday, 7 June 2022.
