New Chair To Drive Opportunities In Peel

  • Myrianthe Riddy appointed as chair of the Peel Development Commission

Regional Development Minister Don Punch has today announced the appointment of Myrianthe Riddy as the new chair of the Peel Development Commision (PDC).

Ms Riddy was on the board of the Rottnest Island Chamber of Commerce until mid-2024, as well as previously serving on the board of the Tourism Council of Western Australia and Destination Perth.

She brings with her senior leadership experience in the private sector, working for 17 years in various management positions for Shell, before moving to Mandurah and establishing her tourism charter business Sea West in 2017.

Ms Riddy's appointment follows the departure of outgoing chair David Doepel, who finished up in the role earlier this year after more than four years of service to the Development Commission.

Regional Development Commissions are key to the Cook Government's job-creating agenda on the ground in regional Western Australia, working to grow and diversify the State's regional economies.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Don Punch:

"Our Regional Development Commissions play such a crucial role in promoting sustainable economic and social development across our regions.

"Congratulations to outgoing chair David Doepel for being such a passionate advocate of the Peel region.

"His commitment to driving innovation and industry collaboration has seen significant projects delivered, like the WA Food Innovation Precinct and Food Technology Facility, which is set to be a major job-creator in the region.

"I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role at the Regional Development Trust and would also like to thank deputy chair Michelle Sidebottom for her support in his absence.

"I have no doubt the PDC will continue to make those valuable connections under the leadership of Myrianthe Riddy.

"I wish Ms Riddy all the best in her new role as the chair of PDC. She brings to the board a passion and strategic insight for the tourism and resources industries in the region."
