Horsham Rural City Council has announced the completion of the accessible changerooms at Horsham Aquatic Centre.
The new changerooms include three accessible family change rooms and one dedicated accessible change room with a lift hoist.
The project was funded with the help of a $331,000 grant provided by the Federal Government's Building Better Regions Fund.
Located on the Hamilton Street side of the facility, the new changerooms will provide more room for manoeuvrability, increase comfort and lessen anxiety, and encourage more people with significant mobility issues to participate.
The new facilities will also provide a family change area to provide the space and privacy for a family group to change.
The Manager of the Aquatic Centre has indicated that during peak times there are a number of families and users with diverse needs lining up to access the one, small accessible change room.
However, the new facilities will make the centre accessible for use by people of all ages and abilities, and it will create an additional community space with the construction of the outdoor function room.
The project was managed by the council and the construction was carried out by Plazzer Builders.
