New Charges in Police Computer Access Breach

A police officer has been charged over the alleged unauthorised access of data.

Following an investigation by Hawkesbury Police Area Command into alleged domestic violence related offences, a 31-year-old detective senior constable – attached to a specialist command – was charged in June 2024. He remains before the courts.

During the investigation, it was established the officer had allegedly illegally accessed the police computer system.

Today (Wednesday 18 December 2024), the officer was issued a court attendance notice for four counts of unauthorised access to or modification of restricted data held in computer.

The man is due to appear before Windsor Local Court on Thursday 30 January 2025.

A further review of the officer's employment status will be conducted.
