Metropolitan and regional cricket clubs within the CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy distribution network regions were invited to apply for grants to replace or upgrade electrical appliances, electrical wiring and power boards, switchboards or related infrastructure.
Grants are awarded based on a range of criteria, prioritising clubs needing assistance to improve the safety of club cricketers and volunteers using the facilities.
CitiPower General Manager Corporate Affairs, Joanne Pafumi, said there is strong demand for the funding assistance with more than 100 applications received for the second round of grants under the $250,000 five year program.
"The first round was really well received and has already helped upgrade electrical infrastructure in 12 clubs across the state," Ms Pafumi said.
"We know how hard it can be to fundraise to cover all the clubs' needs but don't think anyone should have to compromise on safety."
Cricket Victoria CEO Andrew Ingleton welcomed the news.
"The canteen grants program provides a real boost to local clubs which require some assistance in upgrading their facilities to ensure they are safe for everyone who uses them," Mr Ingleton said.
"Cricket Victoria is proud of its partnership with CitiPower, and this program is a great initiative to give back to the Victorian cricket community."
As part of a whole of cricket partnership, CitiPower and Cricket Victoria are offering around $50,000 per year to be distributed through the Canteen Grant program between 2019 and 2023.
