Having a quiet space to hold digital meetings has never been more important, which is why CityLibraries Aitkenvale has launched its new Raintree Zoom Room.
Raintree Zoom Room is a dedicated space for CityLibraries users to attend digital meetings like job interviews, lectures, business meetings, and more.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the new room would be great for people who wanted a quiet space to have meetings.
"Council has had meeting rooms available at its libraries for many years, but COVID-19 has really changed the way we hold meetings. Zoom, Skype and Facetime have become the new normal for everything from work meetings to job interviews," Cr Greaney said.
"This switch towards digital meetings gave Council a push towards having a dedicated digital meeting space, which is why we now have the Raintree Zoom Room.
"This space has unlimited Wi-Fi, a Mac computer with a built-in camera and microphone, Skype and Zoom already downloaded, access to the library catalogue and online resources, and most importantly it is in a quiet space."
Cr Greaney said the room was especially important for people who were still working from home or were looking for a new job.
"With so much happening from home now, it can be hard to find the right time and place to have those important meetings, but now you can book into the Zoom Room and know that there's a dedicated space to use without the distractions at home," she said.
"This is also a great offering for people who don't have Internet at home who need to access it in order to secure a job. We are thrilled to be able to offer this space to anyone in our community who needs it."
