Baynton West Primary School's new classrooms are a step closer to being built following the appointment of local architects to create the designs.
Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced Hurley Matthews & Scavalli Northwest Architecture will design the $5.5 million teaching and learning areas.
First-class teaching facilities will include Kindergarten classrooms and a general teaching and learning building with classrooms and a science laboratory.
The new buildings will replace existing transportable classrooms currently on site.
The project is in the early schematic design phase with construction expected to start in 2022. Works are expected to be completed in July, 2023.
This is part of the McGowan Government's investment in new permanent facilities to replace transportable classrooms and provide additional accommodation at WA public schools.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
"This is a great example of Government working with local industry on local projects.
"As a Government we are investing significantly into improving schools in Western Australia.
"Quality public education is critical to every community in Western Australia and we are committed to building better schools across the State."
As stated by Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:
"This is another terrific milestone as the McGowan Government continues to improve schools in the Pilbara region.
"Baynton West Primary School has almost 800 students so I'm pleased we can provide new classrooms for students and teachers."
