The Ai Group Defence Council has named its new Co-Chairs as Mr Greg Barsby, Chief Executive Officer of Penten, and Mr Paul Chase, Chief Executive of Leidos Australia and Asia.
"We congratulate Mr Barsby and Mr Chase on these important appointments. Ai Group has recently created a new Co-Chair structure for the Defence Council, reflecting the significant role of the Chair position, as well as the importance of the sector in light of geo-strategic issues and AUKUS developments," Australian Industry Group Chief Executive Innes Willox said today.
"Both Mr Barsby and Mr Chase bring exceptional leadership qualities, as well as a deep understanding of the Defence industry and are well placed to lead the Ai Group Defence Council at this critical time for the Australian industry.
"We also thank Mr Andy Keough, Managing Director, Saab Australia, for his time as leader in the Defence Council Chair role. Mr Keough has provided extraordinary leadership and service to the Council over his time as Chair, and Ai Group would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Keough for his time in the role.
Paul Chase has a 38 year background in engineering and programs management at Leidos, Lockheed Martin, RLM Systems and RAAF. Paul has been fortunate to work on some of the most interesting locally delivered technology programs.
"The chair position provides a great opportunity to assist at all levels, including Defence's engagement with industry and work across companies to help provide quality feedback and input on key initiatives and questions in the Defence sector," Mr Chase said today.
Greg Barsby is the Chief Executive Officer of Penten, is a seasoned industry veteran with nearly three decades of experience in Defence, having led start-up companies through to global brands. Greg joined Penten as CEO in January 2024.
"The Ai Group Defence Council plays an important role in the growth and sustainment of our national defence industry, in support of Australia's national security and prosperity. I am delighted to Co-Chair alongside Mr Chase and to provide representation across all levels of defence industry, working with and supporting our defence and national security organisations," Mr Barsby said.
