All three levels of government have united to establish a new standard of collaboration as the Sunshine Coast's new wave of public transport infrastructure moves into the delivery phase.
Sunshine Coast Council hosted the first Infrastructure Round Table on Friday (April 11) to share critical information, forge cooperative relationships and maximise legacy opportunities presented by the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Mayor Rosanna Natoli said all parties at the roundtable had met with a singular focus.
"This round table was the first, and we've already committed to continue this process of working together and to having more round tables in the future," Mayor Natoli said.
"We know that public transport infrastructure is key - it's the missing piece and is going to make a world of difference on the Sunshine Coast.
"To have all levels of government working together on solutions is so exciting."
Queensland Deputy Premier and Kawana MP Jarrod Bleijie said the round table marked a "new era of collaboration" that was critical for securing infrastructure investment in the region.
"Things that we have talked about for 30 years and longer on the Sunshine Coast are finally happening," Mr Bleijie said.
"The next seven years as we head to 2032 - and beyond - will be a golden era of opportunity on the Sunshine Coast."
Mayor Natoli said it was a huge, positive step to be working in partnership with all levels of government.
