The City of Playford is excited to announce it will build a new neighbourhood park on the corner of Peerless and Tatura Roads at Munno Para West.
Council has been investigating options to develop a new park in Munno Para West over the last two years and has completed settlement on the land, paving the way for the project to commence.
Council's Open Space Strategy (2018) identified the need for more open space in this rapidly growing part of Playford, which was supported by strong demand from the community to see more options for play and recreation in the neighbourhood.
While construction on the playground won't take place until 2023, there will be activity on site in the coming weeks with the fencing going up and removal of structures on the land.
A key part of the park's construction will be community input into its design, which is expected to occur in September 2022, where residents can have their say as to what they'd like to see on the 6220sqm site.
The neighbourhood park at Munno Para West will add to Council's growing list of parks, providing a range of play and recreation opportunities for the community, including significant park upgrades that will be completed in the coming months at Burdell Reserve, Elizabeth Downs; Willison-Goodman Reserve, Elizabeth South; Mandeville Reserve, Davoren Park and California Reserve, Craigmore. Council is also currently working on designs for a new Health and Wellness Reserve at Mofflin Reserve in Elizabeth Vale, following recent consultation on a design concept.
This is part of Council's commitment to ensuring that residents have a range of options to access quality open space close to where they live.
