New CT for GC delivers better services

A new CT scanner has come online at the Gold Coast's Robina Hospital to provide better health services and meet growing demand, the Palaszczuk Government has announced.

Gold Coast-based Palaszczuk Government Minister Meaghan Scanlon said the second scanner would give the hospital, which currently sees more than 18,000 scans done a year, greater capacity to diagnose and treat patients.

"It means more patients can be looked after, and looked after quicker," Minister Scanlon said.

"It's builds on a record health and hospitals plan for Queensland, which includes a new $1.3 billion hospital in the city's north plus a satellite hospital at Tugun and bed expansions at Robina and Gold Coast university hospital.

"That's on top of more paramedics, more nurses, and vital infrastructure like public transport and M1 upgrades.

"Our city will be home to 800,000 people by the time the Olympics rolls around, and our investment now means better services, good jobs and protecting our great lifestyle as we grow."

Health Minister Yvette D'Ath said the CT scanner was the final piece of the Robina Hospital Medical Imagine Department redevelopment.

"This is one of many health projects the Palaszczuk Government has committed to on the Gold Coast alongside a $1.944 billion investment in health, announced in the most recent budget," Minister D'Ath said.

"This milestone is further evidence that only the Palaszczuk Government can deliver important health projects like the Satellite Hospitals," Minister D'Ath.
