The University of Liverpool is excited to launch the Digital Heritage Lab, a groundbreaking online resource that provides access to a wealth of digitised materials from Libraries, Museums and Galleries.

The Digital Heritage Lab offers users a centralised platform to explore and discover a diverse range of artefacts and documents from across the University's collections including Special Collections and Archives, the Victoria Gallery & Museum and the Garstang Museum of Archaeology.

From rare books and manuscripts to photographs and maps, the Lab offers a space to view all these objects together in one place providing a unique window into the past.

Olivia Thompson, Digital Heritage and Operations manager, said: " The Digital Heritage Lab is a testament to our commitment to preserving and sharing our cultural heritage. We are thrilled to bring these valuable collections to the attention of a wider audience, and hope users will be inspired by the stories told here to come and see objects they might not have considered before."

Chancellor of the University of Liverpool Wendy Beetlestone features in a new film about the inspiring contents of the lab. She said: "If you have a resource, like the digital resources we're now building here at the University of Liverpool, it's just another way of being able to build back into your life what's created you, and where you come from."

The Lab's user-friendly interface allows users to easily search and browse the collections, making it a valuable tool for researchers, students, and history enthusiasts alike.

The centralised platform also establishes a robust research infrastructure, facilitating cross-disciplinary potential and enabling researchers to explore connections across diverse collections and identify patterns unseen before.

Masters student Ekaterina Mulyk said: "It's nice to be able to put all those things on a digital platform because then it's much easier to find. You can filter it by collections, it's amazing, especially for students, because it's so much easier to search things."

The Lab underscores the University's expertise in digital heritage management. This creates exciting partnership potential for future collaborations dedicated to preserving and distributing cultural heritage through innovative digital solutions.
