The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Victorian Branch President, Anthony Tassone, has today announced the appointment of Ms Rachel Obradovic as the new Victorian Branch Director.
Ms Obradovic was a standout in an impressive field of candidates and her appointment follows a thorough recruitment process that has been undertaken by the Branch since July.
An experienced executive, Ms Obradovic joins the Guild from global consultancy CT Group and brings with her 20 years' experience in media, communications, stakeholder engagement and government affairs.
She has worked for senior federal and state government ministers, including providing strategic communications advice to former Foreign Affairs Minister, Julie Bishop. Ms Obradovic also has extensive experience working in the private sector as a corporate affairs professional representing industry and member organisations.
Victorian Branch President, Anthony Tassone, said Ms Obradovic would bring a wealth of experience to the role.
"Rachel will be a passionate advocate for primary healthcare. She has a proven track record in government and public relations with a wide range of stakeholders and governments from across the political spectrum at a State and Federal government level," Mr Tassone said.
"In her role with CT group, Rachel worked with the Guild in previous campaigns promoting the important role of community pharmacies in our healthcare system."
"Rachel brings a diverse and extensive range of skills that will be a great asset to the Guild in representing our members and their patients," Mr Tassone said.
Ms Obradovic said she was delighted to accept the role.
"The Pharmacy Guild has an incredible focus and passion for the wellbeing of the Australian community, and the vital role that community pharmacy plays in Australia's healthcare system," Ms Obradovic said.
"I am delighted to take up the role of Victorian Branch Director at a time when hundreds of community pharmacies across the state are providing more services to Victorians through the recently commenced Community Pharmacist Statewide Pilot.
"I look forward to working with and for community pharmacy to ensure the sector is well placed to continue to deliver improved healthcare outcomes to patients across the state," Ms Obradovic said.
Mr Tassone also thanked Ms Rebekah Webster for her exceptional dedication and professionalism in her role as Acting Branch Director since June this year.
Ms Obradovic, who holds a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Public Policy and Management (Honours) from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Communications (Public Relations) from Deakin University, will commence as Victorian Branch Director on Monday 15 January 2024.
