New Exhibit Captures Hawkesbury's Scenic Beauty

William Edwin PidgeonA new exhibition opening at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery this Friday captures the breathtaking beauty of the Hawkesbury region, and features some of the country's most celebrated artists including Ben Quilty, Alan Jones, William Pidgeon, Arthur Boyd, Elisabeth Cummings, Salvatore Zofrea, Edna Mariong Watson and Leanne Mulgo Watson among many others.

A river, a mountain, a field, a road… an exhibition showcasing varied portrayals of landscape in the gallery's collections. The works have been drawn from three important collections owned and cared for by Hawkesbury City Council: the Hawkesbury Regional Art Gallery, the Hawkesbury City Council Collections, and contributions from the Friends of the Hawkesbury Art Community and Regional Gallery Inc.

Featuring over 90 artworks from 46 artists, this will be the gallery's first major display of artworks from the collections since 2009 and a rare opportunity for audiences to view these masterpieces up close.

The exhibition will be accompanied by the gallery's FREE, drop-in Maker Space where visitors of all ages and abilities can create textured landscape artworks and get creative at their own pace during gallery hours. The Maker Space is also a designated Quiet Space from 12pm – 2pm on weekends.

A river, a mountain, a field, a road... will be open to the public at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery from Saturday 12 April until Sunday 1 June. Opening hours Monday, Wednesday – Friday 10am – 4pm and Saturday & Sunday 10am – 3pm.
