- Expressions of Interest (EOI) open for new multi-deck car park at Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct
- First of two new car parks for the site that will deliver approximately 2200 parking bays
- Construction expected to commence in 2025
The Cook Labor Government is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for contractors to design and construct a new multi-deck car park at the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct.
This new car park, on the western side of the precinct, will provide improved parking and amenities at the site, which will be home to the new $1.8 billion Women and Babies Hospital.
It will be one of two proposed new multi-deck car parks at the site, with construction of the first car park expected to start in 2025.
The second multi-deck car park is currently in the planning phase.
Together, it is anticipated the new car parks will deliver approximately 2200 parking bays.
The landmark Women and Babies Hospital project will not only provide world-class facilities and replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital, but it will also deliver greater choice for women, families, and the broader community of Western Australia.
The project will include an expansion of neonatal services within Perth Children's Hospital, as well as an expansion of obstetrics and gynaecology services, birthing suites and theatres at Osborne Park Hospital.
Construction of the new Women and Babies Hospital, including car parks, will be undertaken in a staged approach to minimise the impact to staff, patients, and visitors.
Temporary parking options are also being explored as part of the planning process to ensure access to all existing services within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct are maintained during construction.
The EOI for the first multi-deck car park opens today, 19 April 2024.
As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"The new Women and Babies Hospital Project is an exciting and transformational project that will see WA's health system expand and improve women and newborn health services for the community.
"Our priority is to provide equity of access to services for WA women, newborns, and their families.
"New multi-deck car parks within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct will offer improved parking and amenities for our patients, staff, and visitors for our new Women and Babies Hospital and the existing hospital."
As stated by Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"The Women and Babies Hospital project is expected to create more than 1400 local jobs during construction and provide opportunities for local suppliers and contractors.
"The new carparks are a critical component of this exciting project and this EOI is a major step forward.
"Main Roads are also developing plans to improve transport links, including pedestrian and cycling access around the hospital, to improve access for staff, patients, and visitors."
