New Funding Boosts Local Efforts to Restore Cairns' Beauty

Cairns Regional Council is backing local environmental efforts, approving $59,250 in funding from the 2024/2025 Revegetation of Natural Areas Grant stream.

This includes support for three major projects:

  • Cairns Mountain Bike Club will receive $19,250 to restore seven hectares around the Greenfields trail, removing invasive species and planting native trees.
  • Marlin Coast Men's Shed receives $20,000 for Stage 2 of the Moore's Gully restoration. This will include planting 750 trees on the vacant paddock behind the Marlin Coast Bowls Club.
  • Treeforce Association is awarded $20,000 to continue their Cattana Wetlands restoration.

These projects will enhance wildlife habitats, reduce maintenance and create greener spaces for all to enjoy.
