The critical communications network at Mount Darling has been boosted with a new government radio network site.
Member for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman MP, welcomed the new radio communications site.
"Law enforcement, emergency and essential services around Mount Darling will now be able to use a single, integrated radio network to coordinate responses during critical incidents," Mrs Tuckerman said.
Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the new site, delivered by the NSW Telco Authority and located south of Wyangala Waters State Park, was vital to community safety.
"By expanding the footprint of the state's critical communications network, we are ensuring that public safety agencies have an enhanced and more reliable network to help keep people and places safe," Mr Dominello said.
The new site is a Priority Works initiative, a collaborative program involving the NSW Telco Authority and the five public safety agencies. The program prioritises construction and upgrades to sites deemed critical to community safety.
"The network's expansion represents the biggest investment in critical communications infrastructure by the NSW Government in two decades," Ms Tuckerman said.
The government is investing $320 million over the next four years to expand the government radio network from 190 sites to approximately 700 sites. This will boost coverage from 35 per cent of NSW to over 80 per cent.
