Technical University of Denmark

Elena Pachkova will lead the work of developing and implementing future energy solutions as new Head of the Danish Offshore Technology Centre, DTU Offshore.

In addition to management experience from start-up company WPA Mobile and brewing giant Carlsberg, Elena Pachkova brings nine years of management experience from DTU Offshore, where she has contributed to making the centre a key player in the green energy transition. She has most recently served as acting director.

"The results DTU Offshore has achieved so far are admirable, and we have chosen the best candidate to lead the centre into a new and important period," says Christine Nellemann, DTU's Dean of Sustainability, Inclusion and International Cooperation who takes up the position of provost of DTU on 1 February 2025.

Christine Nellemann emphasises that Elena Pachkova has the skills needed to continue DTU Offshores goal of translating the latest research in energy technology into concrete solutions in society.

"Elena Pachkova is full of energy and vision, and I know she will seek collaboration across universities and partnerships with industry and business to create better energy solutions for the future," she says.

Collaboration is key

DTU Offshore is a national centre for research and development of technology solutions for the offshore industry. The centre has built ecosystems and partnerships across academic institutions both in Denmark and abroad.

The researchers work closely with the offshore industry and authorities to develop research-based solutions in the areas of CO2 storage, wastewater management and the environmental impact of energy technologies, and Elena Pachkova looks forward to continuing to optimise the framework for these collaborations.

"Over the years DTU Offshore has proven that excellent research often goes hand in hand with solving real challenges in society. When it comes to energy transition time is short, and the centre is in many ways an example of how challenges can be solved effectively as they arise. The key to this has been the close collaborations across the sector, and I am focused on continuing to strengthen them," she says.

Elena Pachkova took up the position as Head of DTU Offshore on 1 January 2025. Prior to this, since 1 April 2023, she has been acting director since the former Head of DTU Offshore Morten W. Jeppesen.
