New Hearing Australia Board Member

The Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Minister for Government Services, the Hon Bill Shorten, has announced the appointment of a new NSW based member of Hearing Australia's Board, Ms Loretta Di Mento.

Hearing Australia helps over a quarter of a million clients across Australia annually, with client satisfaction rates of over 87 per cent. Services are provided in urban, regional and remote locations across Australia to people experiencing hearing loss, including children and adults from our First Nation communities.

"I welcome Ms Di Mento 's appointment to Hearing Australia's Board. She is a highly qualified and experienced Board Director, with expertise in the areas of health services, audit, accountancy and risk. Her skills will ensure that Board and its Audit and Risk Management Committee continue to guide the important work Hearing Australia does across the nation to prevent hearing loss and to help improve the lives of people with hearing loss," Minister Shorten said.

Ms Di Mento is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand, and a registered company auditor.

She is Chair of the Board of the Western Sydney Local Health District, Deputy Chair of Museums of History NSW and on the Board of Sydney Catholic Schools.

Ms Di Mento also Chairs the Audit and Risk Committees of the Australian Law Reform Commission, the National Australia Day Council, Health Infrastructure NSW, and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of TAFE NSW and NSW Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network.

Ms Di Mento joins Ms Elizabeth Crouch AM (Chair), Professor Jody Currie, Professor Sharon Goldfeld, Dr Jim Hungerford, Mr Kim Keogh, Dr Stephen Parnis, and Mr Kim Terrell (Managing Director) on the Board.

Ms Di Mento's appointment is for a period of three years.

Hearing Australia Chair Elizabeth Crouch AM welcomed Ms Di Mento's appointment saying "Ms Di Mento's significant knowledge, expertise, insights and experience will be invaluable to the Hearing Australia Board and, in particular her leadership of its Audit and Risk Management Committee".
