- Hillarys cycle network expands with new Hepburn Avenue shared path

Hillarys Boat Harbour is now within better reach for people who walk, wheel and ride, thanks to the new Hepburn Avenue Shared Path.
The 2.6-kilometre-long, three-metre-wide path runs from Gibson Avenue to Whitfords Avenue, linking to the existing eastbound route along Hepburn Avenue, making the coastal precinct more accessible than ever.
Forming part of the Hillarys Cycle Network Expansion project, this shared path is the first stage of 10.2-kilometres of walking and riding infrastructure which will be delivered in the area.
The remaining coastal stages linking Hillarys Boat Harbour to North Mullaloo, and Ocean Reef Marina to Burns Beach are expected to be completed in late 2024 and mid-2025 respectively.
The State Government has committed more than $6.9 million towards expanding Hillarys cycle network. The investment will improve connectivity and make it safer and easier for people to enjoy local facilities and destinations in a more active way.
The Hepburn Avenue Shared Path was co-funded by the City of Joondalup.
As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"The new Hepburn Avenue Shared Path fills an important gap in the Hillarys cycle network and is already a key asset for the community as they walk, wheel and ride to our metropolitan north coast.
"Hillarys is a popular location for visitors and tourists alike. This new path infrastructure will increase travel choices and opportunities for those who want to incorporate active travel into their journeys.
"Our Government's commitment to expand Hillarys cycle network will allow greater connections to key coastal and recreational amenities, improved access to local schools and increased safety at road intersections."
As stated by Hillarys MLA Caitlin Collins:
"The completed Hepburn Avenue Shared Path is now providing an amazing asset for cyclists linking Greenwood Train Station to Hillarys Boat Harbour.
"Local cyclists approached me highlighting that more could be done to interconnect our coastal cycling paths. I'm delighted this component of the greater Hillarys Cycle Network Expansion has now been delivered.
"I'd encourage everyone to leave the car in the garage and plan a bike trip to Hillarys Boat Harbour to enjoy our fantastic coastal cycle trail network."
