Hume City Council is helping residents reduce their energy bills by upgrading to efficient electric appliances and improving insulation and draught proofing.
The new Hume Home Energy Upgrades program builds on the previous Hume Solar Roll-Out that assisted more than 300 residents to install quality, affordable rooftop solar energy systems.
A range of electric appliances and other energy-efficient upgrades are now available to residential property owners.
Available upgrades include reverse cycle heating and cooling systems (split systems), electric heat pump hot water systems, rooftop solar, electric induction cooktops, insulation and draught proofing.
Council is also offering attractive rebates, valued between $400 and $1000, to eligible concession card holders who take advantage of the program. These rebates are in addition to government discounts, rebates and no-interest loans.
The program will be delivered in partnership with Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) and vetted suppliers, EnviroGroup and Enviroflex.
Residents keen to get started on making their homes more energy efficient can register for no obligation quotes at humeenergyupgrades.org.au or contact Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) on 03 7037 6040.
Those who don't know where to start can contact YEF for free advice on which upgrades will make the biggest difference to their home. A series of information sessions will also be held across Hume City and online in October and November.
