The grassroots groups at the heart of Ellenbrook will have a new hub to call home under a City of Swan plan for one of Perth's fastest growing communities.
The City proposes to build a facility near Ellenbrook District Open Space to accommodate various community groups.
The Ellenbrook Community Hub would be situated next to the Ellenbrook Bowls Club, repurposing a site that was previously earmarked for the Ellenbrook Leisure Centre.
The Ellenbrook Leisure Centre will now be built on another site.
The organisations that will use the Ellenbrook Community Hub will soon be invited to have their say on the project.
A preliminary concept design has been prepared ahead of the consultation phase.
The City intends to have final designs completed in early 2024 so the project can be included in its 2024/25 budget.
While the City is providing the land and some funding for the project, it would not be possible without the contributions of the State and Federal governments.
Jessica Shaw, Swan Hills MLA, said she was proud to have fought for the State Government's $3.5 million commitment to the project.
"As our vibrant community grows, groups across Ellenbrook and Aveley consistently tell me that they need affordable access to a venue that can host events and also be a home base, with storage and meeting spaces," Ms Shaw said.
"These groups are the heart and soul of our community. We need a place that can connect organisations and bring people together.
"I'm very pleased to hear the City of Swan is pushing ahead with the Ellenbrook Community Hub.
"I take great pleasure in supporting these groups as their local member and I know this is a much-needed facility."

David Michael, Local Government Minister, said he was thrilled to see another State Government election commitment move a step closer to reality.
"Ellenbrook is a fast-growing suburb and the $3.5m in funding from the State Government for the hub is another example of the State Government's commitment to residents of the area, as construction continues on the Morley-Ellenbrook rail line," Mr Michael said.
"The hub will be a crucial community asset for the people of Ellenbrook, housing many of its vital social and community groups."
Tania Lawrence, Hasluck MP, said the Federal Government's $2m contribution was an investment in groups that give back to their community.
"Grassroots community groups are the heart and soul of our suburbs and they deserve facilities like these," Ms Lawrence said.
"Ellenbrook keeps growing and it needs investment to support these grassroots organisations.
"The Albanese Government is proud to support the City of Swan with this project and I look forward to keeping track of its progress."
David Lucas, City of Swan Mayor, said the City was determined to meet Ellenbrook's needs and help the community flourish.
"The City recognises there is significant demand for meeting and activity space from a range of community groups in the Ellenbrook area," Mr Lucas said.
"We appreciate the funding that has been made available by the State and Federal governments to help fill this gap.
"The consultation phase will help us design something that meets as many of these needs as possible."
