Tamworth and the North-west's State Emergency Service (SES) team members and volunteers have a new state-of-the-art command centre.
Nationals Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson welcomed the official opening of the new centre, which brings the very best of modern coordination and communications capability to Tamworth.
"This $6 million dollar facility will be a game changer when it comes to coordinating emergency response right across the northwest," Mr Anderson said.
"The new zone headquarters has dedicated operational spaces for up to 60 SES personnel, including an expanded Incident Management Team, a dedicated flood rescue coordination cell, and planning cells.
"We know how quickly flooding can affect our region, which is why it was critical that our SES have the tools they need to coordinate a strong response to incidents."
Mr Anderson said it's incredible to have gone from announcing the facility in February last year to seeing it set up and ready for operation now.
He said it's a credit to local construction company Formline and all involved in fitting out the building.
"With these new facilities now in operation, we have more senior SES personnel based in Tamworth supporting on the ground teams in the New England-Northwest, ensuring they have the resources they need.
"This is a big win for our local SES crews who often put themselves in harm's way to help others.
"With more on the ground support here in Tamworth, there has never been a better time to join the SES and I encourage anyone who has ever considered serving their community to consider joining the men and women in orange."
