A new hub in Melbourne's southeast will provide jobseekers with tailored support and advice to find long-term employment in in demand industries - thanks to a new pilot initiative backed by the Allan Labor Government.
Minister for Employment Vicki Ward today visited the Brotherhood of St. Laurence in Frankston to officially open the Thrive Hub, which will run a localised employment service for people in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula regions.
Delivered in partnership with Jobs Victoria, the Thrive Hub will connect people with other services they may need to find the job they want - including training, referrals to health and wellbeing services, mental health support and assistance getting their learner's permit for driving.
The tailored approach ensures the Thrive Hub will not only support people to find jobs that are meaningful to them but also overcome barriers that impact their ability to find long-term employment.
Through the project, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence will also deliver paid industry training for people looking for work in Hume, Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula, supported by personalised coaching and connections with other support services.
The pilot fills gaps in the Commonwealth Government's employment service Workforce Australia and builds on recommendations from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Inquiry into Workforce Australia Employment Services by showcasing the benefits of local, inclusive employment services.
The pilot also adds to the range of programs that Jobs Victoria is providing across the state, including Jobs Victoria Mentors and Work and Learning Centres.
