New IIASA Country Collaboration Dashboard Unveiled

IIASA

We are excited to introduce a new tool that exemplifies the Institute's belief that science thrives on global cooperation: the IIASA Country Collaboration Dashboard. Whether you're an IIASA Council member, a researcher, a policymaker, or simply interested in IIASA's work, this dashboard provides valuable insights into our collective efforts.

The new IIASA Country Collaboration Dashboard provides a comprehensive view of the past five years of collaboration between IIASA and its member countries. Updated regularly from the IIASA Information Management System, it features four main sections covering publications, projects, engagement, and people - each packed with data-driven insights.

The publications section is divided into three key metrics: publications about countries, publications coauthored with institutions in IIASA member countries, and publications by IIASA researchers from a particular member country. For each metric, users can explore a detailed list of publications, complete with essential information such as titles, publishers, publication dates, and journal names. The dashboard also offers search and filtering tools, allowing users to customize their searches based on publication year, type, and more.

The projects section showcases IIASA's work with member countries through two key metrics, namely projects related to a particular member country and projects sponsored by funders from a member country. Similar to the publications section, visitors can view detailed project lists, search by specific criteria, and sort columns to quickly find projects of interest.

At IIASA, engagement is central to our mission of fostering global scientific collaboration. The dashboard consequently also features an engagement section, which reflects how actively the Institute and researchers and other collaborators from its member countries have been interacting, providing insights into the depth of our relationship over the years.

The dashboard's people section focuses on the involvement of individuals from IIASA member countries within the IIASA community. Here the dashboard reflects the entire history of a particular member country's involvement rather than just the last five years, including staff members from member countries currently working at IIASA, postdoctoral researchers contributing to ongoing projects, Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) participants, and alumni. In addition, pie charts are used to illustrate the gender distribution of individuals involved at a glance, underscoring IIASA's commitment to diversity within its global network.

For those looking for an easy way to summarize and share data, the dashboard includes a "Download PDF" option, allowing users to generate a comprehensive PDF report that encapsulates all key metrics, making the information portable and convenient for presentations or further analysis with just one click.

"The IIASA Country Collaboration Dashboard is more than just a data visualization tool - it's a gateway to understanding the deep, multifaceted relationships between IIASA and its members around the world. By offering a clear, dynamic overview of our collaborations, we aim to make global cooperation more transparent and actionable," notes Barbara Kreissler, Head of the IIASA Communications and External Relations Department.

We invite you to explore this new tool and use it to enhance your engagement with IIASA.
