New Kerbside Truck Fleet Arrives

Mitchell Shire Council, contractor Cleanaway, is excited to welcome nine brand-new kerbside collection trucks to their fleet. This milestone marks another significant step in the rollout of Mitchell Shire's kerbside collection changes, set to begin in March this year.

The new Cleanaway trucks will enhance the efficiency of waste and recycling services while supporting the introduction of two additional kerbside bins. The food and garden organics bin will be collected and transported to Repurpose It in Epping, where the material will be processed into valuable compost. The new glass recycling bin will be taken to Cleanaway in Coolaroo, ensuring that glass is properly sorted and recycled into new products.

The arrival of the new trucks is a vital step in delivering a more sustainable waste management system for the community.

These trucks will help ensure a smooth transition as we introduce new collection services. By separating food and garden organics and glass recycling, we can reduce landfill waste and support a circular economy.

The kerbside collection changes align with the Victorian Government's Recycling Victoria policy, which aims to improve recycling rates, reduce waste, and minimise environmental impacts.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the upcoming changes by visiting the Mitchell Shire Council website kerbside bin collection schedule or downloading the My Mitchell app to check their bin collection schedule.
