The Tasmanian Liberal Government is continuing to progress the new state-of-the-art Launceston Hospice.
Following the recent release of the concept designs, a development application for the new hospice has now been lodged with the City of Launceston.
The new $20 million hospice, funded by the Australian Government, will be located at the Allambi Building on Howick Street.
Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said the facility will provide a minimum of 10 beds to cater for community members with life-limiting conditions and their families and carers.
"This facility was designed to replicate a home-like environment, promoting dignity, access and connectivity to the established garden and courtyard at the Allambi Building," Minister Petrusma said.
"Lodging the development application is a significant step forward for the project, and our Government will continue to work closely with the community as the project develops.
"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, the Tasmanian Liberal Government is taking action to develop hospice facilities so more Tasmanians can access the right care, at the right place, at the right time."

Subject to achieving necessary approvals, construction of the hospice facility is expected to commence mid-2025 and is anticipated to be completed and open to accept patients in late 2026.
