New Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct Kicking Goals

The Allan Labor Government is making sure more sports players and clubs in Macedon Ranges can play the sport they love close to home, with the new state-of-the-art sports precinct ready for kick off.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today joined Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas and representatives from Macedon Ranges Shire Council to officially announce the completion of Stage 1 of the new Macedon RangesRegional Sports Precinct, thanks to the Labor Government's investment of $14.8 million.

The precinct will meet growing demand for sport facilities in the area in the Macedon Ranges.

The precinct features a new indoor multi-sport stadium complete with three courts and a show court so more local sport teams including netball, basketball, futsal, pickleball, volleyball and tennis can train and play close to home.

The precinct also features a new oval complete with goal posts, an electronic scoreboard, and player seating ready to host local footy, cricket and other outdoor sports and includes a new female friendly pavilion.

With a park more than 3 times the size of the MCG surrounding the new precinct, the local community can enjoy this new sporting hub year-round thanks to the public open spaces, gardens, a wetland, outdoor fitness equipment, barbecue areas, a playground and a track for walking or biking.

The new precinct is not only a boost for local sports teams including more than 3,300 participants but it will also provide new spaces for community groups to meet and conduct local programs.

The completion of Stage 1 of the precinct was made possible by the Government's investment throughthe Local Sports Grants initiative and the Growing Suburbs Fundwith further investment from the local council, Melbourne Water and AFL Victoria.

Investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and delivering Victorian communities the sporting facilities they deserve.
